Pico Picks is a vocabulary-learning app for people studying English. You can look up words and get AI-generated definitions and examples at your level, save them, review them with spaced-repetition exercises, and practise your pronunciation. There is no account to create. Your library and learning history are kept on your iPhone and, if you are signed in to iCloud, synced through your own private iCloud account. They are not stored on our servers. The words you look up are sent to our backend to generate their cards, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
Open the app and go to Settings → Data → Delete my data, then confirm with Delete everything. This erases your saved words, lists, classes, review sessions and your profile, and the app takes you through onboarding again. Because these items are synced to your private iCloud account, the deletion also applies to your iCloud copy when the app syncs. The action is irreversible: once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.
To remove everything Pico Picks keeps in iCloud, including your course progress, you can also go to iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and delete the app's data there. Before deleting, you can keep a copy with Settings → Data → Export my data (a JSON file).
We cannot read, export or delete the data in your iCloud account ourselves. For the limited data held on our side (lookup cache, content reports, access logs, described in our Privacy Policy), write to contact@rougegorge.app.
Not if you are signed in to iCloud. Your words, lists and progress are synced through your private iCloud account, so they come back when you reinstall Pico Picks while signed in to the same Apple Account, and they also follow you to your other Apple devices. Uninstalling the app does not delete them from iCloud. Two things stay on the device only and are lost when you uninstall: the photos you attach to words, and the cache of word cards you have already looked up.
If you are not signed in to iCloud, or if iCloud sync is turned off for Pico Picks, your data exists only on your device and uninstalling the app deletes it. We don't keep a copy on our servers, so we cannot recover it.
Pronunciation scoring requires an internet connection, microphone access and your consent to send the audio for scoring (asked the first time you use it). Check that:

AI-generated content can occasionally be inaccurate or culturally off-base. Tap the Report button on the word card to flag it: this helps us improve the service. For academic or professional use, always cross-check with an authoritative dictionary.
Yes, partially. Reviewing your saved words, doing spaced-repetition exercises and reopening word cards you have already looked up work offline. Looking up new words, pronunciation scoring and downloading lessons require an internet connection, since they call our backend and AI services.
Pico Picks can be downloaded and used for free, with limits. The free version includes:
Pico Picks Premium removes these limits. It is an auto-renewable subscription, available monthly or yearly, with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The price is shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm, and payment is handled by Apple through your Apple Account. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (or of the free trial). You can manage or cancel it from Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription in the app, or from iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Use Restore purchases if you subscribed on another device. Premium is not available through Family Sharing.
No. Pico Picks is intended for users aged 13 and over. Onboarding includes a single 13+ self-confirmation toggle; no date of birth is collected.

If we can't reach an agreement and you are a consumer, you may refer the matter free of charge to the French consumer mediator CNPM, Médiation de la consommation or use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform. For a refund of a subscription payment, request it from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, since Apple processes all payments.
